The VIZIER consortium seeks, as part of its Training and Dissemination Programme, a company to produce educational DVDs on the RNA viruses. The target audiences for these DVDs are virology/molecular biology/biochemistry/medical university students as well as advanced high-school students.
The VIZIER consortium, supported by the European Union (LSHG-CT-2004-511960), is investigating the RNA viruses with the object of providing a basis for rapid development of therapeutics against newly emerging viruses. Limited information about the project can be found on http://www.vizier-europe.org/. The VIZIER consortium is international and the working language of the project is English, however competences in one or more of the languages French/ German/ Spanish/ Italian/ Dutch would be advantageous.
The selected company will have experience in the production of scientific documentaries and/or educational videos. The requirements are two 45minute DVDs on the subject of the (+) strand RNA viruses. Upon satisfactory completion of the project a second contract for two 45minute DVDs on the (-) strand RNA viruses will be offered on the same terms as the first. Delivery of the first pair of DVDs will be expected during early 2007.
The company will have access to the scientific knowledge of the consortium, members of whom can act as scientific consultants. Interested companies can obtain a preliminary project analysis from tucker@embl-hamburg.de.
The application should consist of a company profile, including a description of relevant productions, which could be the address of a website with the relevant information. The application should include an outline of the topics to be covered and especially an indication of the necessity and extent of illustration/animation effects to be used (including an estimate of costs and company to be used if not the production company), and a quotation. Applications should be sent to tucker@embl-hamburg.de before 15th August 2006.
The copyright of the DVDs will be transferred to the VIZIER consortium for exploitation as the consortium sees fit.
